South Pacific Pageant a Success for TI Fiji

30/11/2009

TI Fiji hosted a stall at the South Pacific Beauty Pageant in Albert Park for seven days on 22nd, 24th-29th November.

The stall focused on educating citizens and youth about our ALAC programme alongside a special awareness programme on the role of the judiciary. We were pleasantly surprised to see how many young people could recognise important judicial figures!

We invited local schools to bring down groups of students to learn about corruption and TI. The children and teens participated in quizzes, spelling competitions, face painting and other activities. Throughout the week we offered TI Fiji shirts and sulus as prizes. These proved to be very popular. The highlight of these activities was the art competition. Artwork was judged on the quality of the message as well as the art.

More than 40 NICE facilitators in training at the Tanoa Plaza paid TI Fiji a visit at the park on Friday. They learnt about our work and values in a one hour workshop session.

On the final day TI staff joined the pageant parade from the Suva Flea Market, though Victoria Parade and back to Albert Park.
